So I listened to the promo vinyl of Fame Monster and this song just begged to be covered.

I'm more a rock indie guy. so I did this with a godin 5 ave acoustic, a precision bass, an octron, a K47H, an RE20, an X12 preamp, a Duet, Goldbaby Vinyldrums, and Logic express.

I LOVED using the Octron into the Tech 21 Blonde to get that bridge bass solo tone. So dirty, so good.

I'm finally living up to my club association. ;-)

I throw a sub on - and you'll really hear the interaction between the dry recorded bass. the distorted bass, the kick, and this crazy filter sub kick i called the "gravity bomb"

sometimes you get recording an a tone just jumps off your fretboard and you say, "oh yes. I like THAT - i need more of THAT."

signal is

P bass with flats into an Octron into a Tech 21 Blonde into a JLM audio Fet DI into a Fivefish X12 preamp into logic.

In logic I ran the channel EQ with a -9db shelf at 50hz, the a high Q cut at 200 and 800 hz then a 3db boost at 3k and 7k

then opto compression at 4:1 really quick attack to control a few crazy transients (I know I still had transient to tame despite the gratuitious use of distortion) and a threshold of -25db and a 270ms release

There you go - if you have the above tools - and some big hands - you can get the exact same tone.
