LED Colours on Pedals

Sign in to disble this ad
I have noticed on many of the Post Your Pedalboard threads that people often include 'Night shots' of their boards and that the majority of the pedals have red LED's.

Are there any pedals of note that have different coloured LEDS?

Any and all suggestions are welcomed

I've seen red, blue, green, white, and yellow. But yeah, mostly red.

I like to use blue and green in my builds. Violet and UV LEDS are also favs of DIY'ers. The BBE opto stomp has a blue LED. And of course, the Box of Awesome has a blue LED.

Electronix Submarine has a nice Yellow one.

I swapped out the boring red one in my Big Muff and put a yellow one in that too.
My Wounded Paw Battering Ram has blue and red. Oh, and the Supercollider has white.

Do UV LEDs actually show up in plain view, or do they have to be viewed through a camera?

Am I correct in thinking that the Way Huge Swollen Pickle and the Pork Loin have Blue LEDs?

I'm planning a 10 or 12 loop effects router to get my board organized and I think I'm going to make a repeating rainbow of LED's: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, UV, repeat, with maybe white LEDs to show when A feedback loop is engaged. I love going full out tacky with LEDs

UV LEDs give off visible purple light in addition to the stuff we can't see. It's just like looking at an incandescent or florescent black light. If they get too much voltage they often look blue. I have a few kit pedals with UV LEDs and blacklight responsive clear coat, it's pretty neat when the face of one of my pure black pedals turns white and gold once it's activated.

wish I had a way to take pics... I just completed a way huge red llama replica. Stuck a blue LED in there and the thing is blinding.

While we're on the subject of LED's.... I've seen a picture somewhere of a 'lightbox'. It was simply a DIY stompbox with a switch, 9v jack, and tons of LED's. no audio function. How would I build one of these? And what colors would be best? I want to use it to stick under the riser on my board, to illuminate things. (to make it look cool, not for visibility). Radio shack has all sorts of oddly shaped LED's. I'd be open to using all sorts of weird things. Maybe an acrylic case?

My guess it the stomp just functions in place of a rocker switch for power. The negative leads of each LED connected to Ground, and the Positive leads to +9v, all wired in parallel, with one resister in front? Or is it not that simple? I suppose I could just buy a handful of lights and put them on my breadboard.
