Thumbs up Legacy of Moog

This may or may not belong here, but I know it will garner attention at this current location, plus this is the only forum I hang out within really, so here it comes:
Quote:
The Museum of Making Music and The Bob Moog Foundation announce Waves of Inspiration: The Legacy of Moog a special exhibition to run from August 29, 2009 – April 30, 2010 at the Museum’s facilities in Carlsbad, California. The exhibit is the first of its kind, marking the first public display of the artifacts from Bob Moog’s archives.

...

The exhibition, which highlights the inventor's career and the impact that it had on the world of music, will feature rare vintage synthesizers and other related Moog instruments and memorabilia from the Bob Moog Archives and from various private collections. A custom video presentation created by Moog historian and exhibit consultant Brian Kehew will form a central part of the exhibit. The exhibit will explore the numerous musicians, engineers and colleagues who played a vital role in the evolution of the Moog sound and the relationship between and the inventor/toolmaker and the musician, as well as the genesis of a variety of musical interfaces.

I'll definitely be going. Hopefully this dude will be there:

Awesome. That's right in my backyard so I'll have to go check it out. I haven't visited that museum yet and need to do so.

I used to see Bob here in Asheville, NC (his hometown and the location of Moog, Inc.) all the time before he passed a few years ago. I actually dated his stepdaughter briefly... a good friend of mine set me up on a date with her. But I digress... He was good friends with the faculty in the music department here at UNC-Asheville where I went to college, and in fact taught on the faculty years before I was ever here. I saw him daily for the last part of my tenure in college and he was one of the coolest, most down to earth guys you could ever want to meet. I've been here for over ten years and Bob's legacy is an irreplaceable part of this town's musical legacy. The Orange Peel, a local prominent music venue, has an exhibit dedicated to Bob and his influence is felt everywhere. I actually live about 5 minutes away from the Moog factory/offices in North Asheville. Our guitarist in my main band plays with an array of at least 5 Moog effects... a truly Asheville guitarist if I ever met one! I am so happy to see that the tradition of innovation and the celebration of Bob's contributions is being spread and felt all across the country. Kudos!
