Could someone tell me about this? I'm building my first rack and have access to a good deal on one...

Is this something worth adding?

Strengths/weaknesses???

Thanks,

It's a cool piece. Strengths: lots of very cool sounds, relatively easy to use. Weaknesses: tends to be noisy, and may get noisier the older it gets. Whether a bassist will actually use the effects it offers, enough to give up a rack space for it, is a question to ask yourself.

Great unit. If it's noisy, have a competent tech recap the power supply. That should give you another ten quiet years. I've been using LXP-15s for almost 20 years in studios, and they are right up there with much pricier boxes in terms of lush verbs and excellent choruses, delays, etc. Very midi friendly for switching etc. Just a fine piece of kit!

What do you want it for, 'verbs or FX in general?
If you can get it cheap ($200-$250) buy it, you can sell it later if you dont like it.

If you are on the hunt for older rack FX, check if you can Ensoniq DP-4 or Eventide H3000 D/S(X or E) or Eventide Eclipse (I think that you can get last one for $800 or so used, and that toy will serve you for a long time)

if you can get the original LXP-1 you should. I think they changed the algorithms on the later models.

I got mine on eBay for $115. Great unit
