Lexicon MX300 - using TRS and XLR outs simultaneously

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello,

I'm planning to buy Lexicon MX300 rack multieffect to play with compressor, flanger, chorus, etc. But if I connect the MX300 to my amp's effect loop, the DI out in my amp will get practically useless as it sends unprocessed signal (pre loop).

MX300 has two output connectors for each processor - TRS and XLR. If TRS is connected to poweramp in, can the XLR out be used to send the signal to the board?

I wonder how you guys solve the problem of sending effected signal to the board when using rack multieffects, especially these without double outputs?

I'd suggest going to Lexicon's site and checking the manual to see if using one kills the output from the other.

I used to use an MPX500, but found it was better suited for setting the effects prior to the song and toggling on and off. There was ~1 second lag switching between presets that made the unit less than ideal for live use with lots of different / varied effects.

Lex makes great gear, but I'd go for a floorboard up front in the chain for the controllability and DI issues.

The manual says that only one INPUT connection per processor is allowed but does not mention multiple outputs. I guess that means one can connect both the TRS and XLR but I'd like to hear confirmation from someone who actually owns the thing.

Yeah, I'm considering floorboard, but I really like the convenience of the rack unit - no additional cables, power supplies, cases, everything kept clean in single rack...

Could someone comment about switching lag on MX300? Does it have the same issue as Brian mentioned? Lexicon seem to advertise MX300 as a perfect device for both studio and live applications so maybe they managed to fix this problem?

G System by TC Electronic? (TC Electronic | G-System) The effects unit can either sit under the board or break out to be rack mounted.
