Liking my Boss CEB3 chorus

Sign in to disble this ad
Just picked up one of these used and am very happy. I'm quite picky with equipment and am quite impressed with this unit in terms of sound quality (engaged and disengaged) and low noise.

If you haven't tried one and are in the market for a chorus pedal, you might consider doing so.

I like to share when something is really good to others on the forum.

Disclamer - I've tried a few other choruses but certainly not all of them. Another I recommend is the Danelectro Cool Kat Chorus (18V).

This Chorus doesn't get a lot of love here, but I've always liked it too...it's subtle, but that's what I like in a chorus...

I still have one laying around somewhere...using a TCE Corona right now...

The CEB-3 is a decent chorus and works well for me. It's probably the pedal I've stuck most with, not counting a boss TU2 and a SansAmp PBDDI. I've toyed around with the EHX Neo Clone which IMO sounds warmer, but loses a bit of bass.

one more thing

When I first got it I thought it was too subtle. However, when I used it in a band context I really appreciated the level of control for the amount of chorus. I know feel the amount of chorus effect available is more than enough. I think the controls are well thought out too.

A few years ago I found this CE-2b real cheap and loved its sound. A few months ago when changing pedalboard setups it decided to die on me (music store repair guy said: dead circuit board, will cost more to repair than a new one).
Anyway, I bought a CE-5 based on reviews here and didn't like it at all, far from my CE-2b's sound. So I returned the CE-5 and got a CEB-3 instead and it's pretty close to the sound I remember of my CE-2b.

Much love here!
