Tube Sound Fuzz mod going wrong

Sign in to disble this ad
So I am in current possesion of a pile of mess.

I bought the GGG red lama clone with the intention to load it into my Jag bass.

got the board populated and doubled checked for good solders and correct parts.

everything checks out.

then i hooked it into the circuit in the bass and while it was functional I seem to bee getting what sounds like crushing bits and foldover at higher volume settings

THEN when I attached the pots to the plate and put the bass back together - no sound at all.

I'm almost incline to rip apart the entire bass and rewire from the ground up due to the very long cable runs in the bass and the grounding scheme isn't that great for a high gain circuit to be going in.

What I want to know is - what is causing that weird foldover when the volume creeps up? AND is it a result from unshielded cable getting really close to unshielded ground wires in tight spaces in a bass.

hmmm.

little help.

Are you going to have a way that you can switch the preamp (or in this case the lama) off if you want, or is it always going to be full on?

I'll use the switch on the plate as the on off switch. This pedal will not have the same boost function as the polish loves out there.
