Anybody try one of these on bass?
My thoughts of Line 6 distortion always change. I played through a Spider III a while back & it sounded amazing, but I got an M13 & all the distortions just sounded...crappy, & the levels on the pedal never went high enough to the same level as my clean tone

On a seperate note, Les Claypool uses a DM4, but, he usually creates silly sounds you'd never use in songs

I had one and found I prefered the M13 but made a passable backup of the M13 with the DM4, it's a very good pedal quite surprising but I'd buy second hand really I don't think they are worth the new price.
I don't know how you had those issues with the M13, I got plenty of volume out of all the drives and the Tube Comp as a boost was insane if I didn't watch the level control.

| | | | I don't know if it was because I use active basses but whenever I'd use the distortion or the loop, the volume would just cut completely, even when the output was up full. I hated it considering I was looking for a pedal like this since I started playing

To save you buying a muff, fuzz face, dod 250 etc etc buy that see what you like then buy a boutique version of that pedal.
I don't think the DM4 sucks on bass but if you only need 1 or 2 dirt sounds you'll get better from a separate pedal.

| | | | Well I have a ODB-3 which I use for proper filthy distortion, but I'm still looking for a nice crunch & a fuzz. How about tech 21? They seem to be pretty high up there
