This thread has made me want more Moog pedals, and makes me want that M9. Dammit. Just when I thought I was GAS free, I get sucked back in.
Great stuff though. Sounds really good. |

Great stuff though. Sounds really good. | Yeah man, Moog FTW! I keep thinking "I should really add a Murf and Delay to my Moog" collection - but we'll see
I do have serious GAS for a Taurus III

Really dig your playing throughout and the progression of the jam really gives a good look at the different aspects of your style. |

| | | | I don't see why you're even using a bass guitar for this...with all the effects, ableton processing, pedal use, and filter manipulation, it seems like the actual bass guitar is pointless...might as well use a keyboard or just trigger loops/samples with the AKAI controller.
These talkbass people seem to like it, but I just don't see how this is "live..." The bass guitar seems superfluous. |

Sure most of us know where the notes are on a keyboard and some are even competent at playing them too, but there's something to be said for playing a bass because you like it. The result is a vibe that approaches the synthesized sounds we seek to emulate, but with a distinct characteristic that goes along with playing it on a bass. Some people like that vibe as much or more. |

| | | | Well, it looks like you didn't get my point. Yes, I am aware that this is a forum for bassists. I am a bassist. My point was that the music in these videos, while good, is not so much an achievement on behalf of bassists. These videos aren't a breakthrough for bass-playing, they are an exhibition of ableton live, the AKAI APC 40, and various sequencing and midi control technology. The bass guitar, in these videos, is not a central component to the sound, but rather serves as an oddly chosen midi controller.
