So here's the deal. I'm in the process of setting up my home studio, which of course involves VST/AU amp simulators, effects, etc. Now, because I'm doing this, I don't have a lot of money left over for effects pedals. So, if i have an audio interface and a Mac (both of which are portable, clearly), it should be fairly easy to plug my bass in, hook those into the PA, and use them for live effects processing, right? Thoughts and ideas?

Be prepared to deal with some latency, might be minimal may be a deal killer. I had a buddy that bought a computer only for this and he ended up selling the rig because of latency. I have also heard some people have success with it. I personally wouldn't do it, too much room for failure. If one pedal or cord messes up, no biggie, I do without one effect. If part of your rig fails, the whole rig fails.

makes sense. there must be ways to minimize latency, though...?
