I knew the answer a few minutes ago, but now I can't remember.

What were we talking about???

Oh yeah, I want a hot fudge cake.

(sorry...just reminiscing from my college days back in the '70's)

Sounds like a gnarly fuzz (perhaps a Way Huge Swollen Pickle or Pork Loin) and a phaser on a slow setting. Also, the combination of song title and your user name made me chuckle. Best of luck necro.

Al used huge amps and cabs with a Boss DS-1, maybe a DOD 250 too. He used a Mu-tron too.
He started using some other effects after Sleep.

Matamp amps and cabs, Rickenbacker, not totally sure about the pedals but I've heard the DOD 250 and the Boss DS-1 mentioned before...as the previous poster said.

Yup, find yourself an old DS-1 and an old DOD 250 and those there will nail the tone.

Now learning to riff like Al well that is a whole other thing.

DS1 is more common than I realized for slow, sludgy, doomy stuff. Pete Steele from Type O Negative used one too
