For that low, overdriven octave sound, which two pedals are best?

I've been wondering about this for a while, and searched "octave" and found nothing even close to this.
So for that low, octave-down and overdriven (or fuzzed, depending on what band) sound, which two pedals do you guys use? or if there is some od&octave pedal I'm forgetting about, what one pedal do you use?

I know that the Boss OC-3 has a mode where you can distort the octave down, and even has a drive knob to control the amount of distortion

The Octron is the coolest tone I've herd for that but the Micro POG tracks better and can be used with a fuzz or distortion. I use a B:assmaster with my POG. If you don't mind some slower tracking the Octron is the way to go IMO. I like better tracking so I use the POG though.

i would say another vote for the oc3... i actually liked the drive on that pedal by itself and with the octave function its a big plus. my favorite boss pedal by far. if only i had a reason to use an octave!

I have just gotten my M-POG and will run it into my English Muff'n. However, i don't think sub-octave distortion will be of much use - a clean sub-octave blended with a fuzzed dry is going to cut thru a lot more, i think.

The EXH Bass Microsynth has kinda distorted octave down sound. Check Chris Wood's bass line on MMW's song "Uninvisible" here:

Do yourself a favour: listen through good speakers.

Ehx Octave Multiplexer has a switch to add dirt to the octave, also a very nice sounding pedal. MXR Bluebox is a gnarly 2 octave down and filth beyond belief. Bluebox has a blend knob and a sort of "my sound is out of control"-ness that's pretty cool. I use them both, but not at the same time of course. Bluebox is very inexpensive.

Notice he has a GK 800RB at the top of his amp as well in some of their videos. THAT will help with a low overdriven sound.

for low gain overdriven octave sounds i think the best combo is something like a fulltone bassdrive and a micro pog, the micro pog tracks really well and the octave sounds are clear and the fulltone bassdrive can do some really cutting overdrive sounds.

actually going to get a bassdrive and sell my muff'n this week and i already own the micro pog.

i also own the boss oc3 but i really dont like the overdrive sound on it. i used to pair it with a muff'n

I use an Octabass and a Guv'nor for that sound. I've been really happy with that.

I got an EHX POG recently and it sounds evil with my Muff'n. That's evil in a good way.

You save some serious dough as well. I love the POG, but it's a ton of money. I used to use a combination of a Sansamp Bass Driver and an EBS octabass, but in the need to save money, I tried the Boss and was pleasantly surprised by the features and diverse range of choices. It's got great grit and the tracking is WAY better than the previous models.

I've heard more better things about the OC-2 than the 3 but this thread is getting some serious OC-3 love. i haven't tried either but why is this?

It depends what you're after. The OC-2 sounds more like an old-school analog octave-divider-style (like the EHX octave multiplexer) plus had both 1 and 2 octaves down.

The OC-3 sounds more digital, but it has three different modes. It has the OC-2 mode (1 and 2 octaves down with separate volume for each), 1 octave down + distortion mode, and a polyphonic mode.

I've tried both, and I prefer the OC-3, but that's because I am generally more into digital sounds than analog anyways
