Hi there everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has tried either of these boutique pedals.
The NEO FUZZ, with germanium transistors
or the G.I. FUZZ with silicon.
They're made here in Australia - but I believe they're being shipped all over the world.
Here's the site; http://www.miaudio.com/index.htm |

The Neo is a very warm creamy fuzz, the GI is more extreme for sure. Both are great, and work well with active basses which is rare. Neo fuzz has been my fuzz of choice since it came out. I keep thinking I'll pick up the GI Fuzz again sometime
The only one issue with them is that since the Neo inverts the power polarity, you shouldn't use a standard daisy chain type power supply with it. Either use a dedicated one or a voodoo labs type psu where outputs are isolated from each other. |

Like David said, careful with the polarity (Voodoo Lab works fine). I've played fuzz pedals that have a better tone, but since this one works with ALL my basses, it's the one I keep.
Lots of samples of it can be found in the links in my signature, pretty much every time I do a lead type thing in my songs I'm using the Neo.

the neo and the Assmaster are the best bass fuzzes i've heard.

It works very well with all my basses.
Very versatile, you can dial in pretty much any thing from smooth to very heavy fuzz.
You can also match impedances for active and passive and with the trim pot inside, set the minimum fuzz level (the amount with the fuzz knob all the way counter clock wise).
I haven’t tried the Neo, but would like to eventually get one.
The GI and TecAmp Dream Buzz are permanent features on my board.

Anyway, worth noting that the Dream Buzz is a boutique build of the classic Fuzz Face, optimized for bass. It's a fantastic, fantastic sounding bass fuzz, and I keep meaning to do my own build of it sometime. |

Yes I did get it on Ebay.
I love it. I think it’s much more versatile than most of the other fuzzes out there.
Not only does it sound great with bass, it plays well with other pedals.
I would have liked the milk-cream to be foot switch able.
Don’t know why they didn’t change that when they moved the color control up to the top.
I have a pedal policy; if it’s almost impossible to get in the US, obscure and/or expensive it must be better so I have to have one. So far I haven’t been disappointed.
Yes Dave Hall will probably be hearing from me in the near future.

Good Thing us over in Perth can't afford to feel that way, eh?
That's great news about the NEO working well with passive and active basses, cos I use both!
The only other fuzz I have that does that - funnily enough - is the simplist - the big muff. (but it don't cut through!)
I'll be trying out a GI Fuzz in the next couple of days, as they don't stock a NEO - but I'll wait and see.
Cheers for the advice fella's
