M13/M9 users - what expression pedal do you use?

Sign in to disble this ad
I definitely need an expression pedal for my M13. Someone told me Line 6's website had a list of compatible expression pedals but I saw it nowhere. I remember the Ernie Ball Jr 25K being recommended for the M13 but before I pull the trigger I wanted to see what the majority of users prefer. Any recommendations?

for my M9 i use a Line 6 EX-1.
i'm not hard on my gear, and i can replace the cable with a right-angled one.

i just got a VP jr 25K from a fellow TB'er, so i'll see how that might work with it...

On the Line 6 website they just simply show you their EX-1 pedal, there is no list that I could see of compatible devices.
On the right hand side of this page -

http://line6.com/m9/

Obviously Line 6 would like to buy their pedal

I'd probably just go for a Moog EP-2.

I know the Ernie Ball Vol pedals work with the Eventide Factor pedals but I've not tried an M9 with one as of yet.

I'm using a Bespeco VM-19L that I used to use with my Meatwad. Works entirely fine.

Works:

Ernie Ball VP Jr 25k ohm (log pot)
Line 6 EX-1
Roland EV-5 (i know some people who had trouble with this one)
Boss FV-500L
Boss FV-500H

unknow needs confirmation:

Kurzweil CC-1 (10K linear pot, 45 bucks, likely compatible)
TC Electronics X1 (25k ohm Logpot, $130 (!), likely compatible)
Pigtronix EP-1 Expression Pedal (20k pot unknown taper, metal construction, around 50 bucks, likely compatible)

Not Compatible:

Yamaha FC-7
Ernie Ball VP JR Passive 250K & 6166
Any wah wah pedal
Morley volume Pedals
Behringer FCV100
M-Audio EXP (someone said this one works taking out a resistor)
Rocktron Hex
Moog EP-2 (it is possible to swap the internal pot with a 16mm pot, though it might take some fabrication skills. This is not recommended for the inexperienced.)

I'm half thinking the Line 6 Expression pedal is a Re branded Bespeco product.

Interesting to hear the Moog is not compatible

I'm using a roland ev-5, and it seems that the first 1/4 throw form heel down has no effect, but after that it scrolls through the whole range just fine.

Cool I wasn't aware of those, they look great.

I'm using Boss FV-500L currently because it was cheap but I did have 2 25K eb's which were great but I think the Boss is a bit of a nicer travel.

Question

How do you hook up the ernie ball jr 25k to a m9? does it just take a mono 1/4" cable? Where do you plug it into on the volume/expression pedal?

I've been using a ex-1 and I don't like it too much and I have a ernie ball jr 25k just collecting dust.

Thanks,
Chris

I think it has to be a TRS cable

Subscribed.

I just picked up an M13 today and it's updating right now.

If I stick with it I will be looking at a Mission Eng. pedal or two. They are a little pricey but I'm hard on my gear. Are they built like tanks? Does anyone have one that can verify how well they are built?

Thanks in advance!
