I'll start off with one that I've discovered. I call it Viagra because it makes your tone bigger. (2.x firmware required)
Smart Harmony, pitch shift set to "None"

I am also going to add that when (not if) I finally get my M13 I will be combining it with an LS-2esque blender with loop A running from the input to the fx send and loop B running from the fx return to the output. This should allow me to have the most versatile rig ever in the history of ever. |

Each scene has it's own saved settings for Gate, Expression/Volume pedal control, etc. So one scene can have fx rows 1, 2, 3 react to expression, and another may only have 1 or 1 & 2. |

Octoverb and Particle verb do nice Space station imitations.
Scene for Pog:
1. Synth-O-Matic: waveform 1, Freq: 3/4, Q: zero, pitch: all the way up for brighter organ, half the way for heavier tones, mix half the way,
2. Smart harmony: Major scale, 5th up, blend: 1/2 or less,
3. Smart harmony: Major scale, octave up, blend: 1/4,
4.(in M13) Analog chorus / Rotary drum for leslie vibe or Pitch glide (octave down) for more low end.
Looper: You can fade in or fade out recorded loops with expression pedal. |

this topic has big potential. unit is amazing and its abilities can be explored way better when users share their tips/settings

Personally I use a tiny boost pedal velcro'd to the right side of my M13 to balance levels between my different basses to keep my signals very similar. |

Effects like Particle Verb with the mix turned all the way up send only the reverb signal, none of your original bass. If you put a delay after the particle verb, you'll confuse yourself.
Be very careful when you buy an M9. The thought will occur to you that if you bought a 2nd M9 you could run one in front of your amp and one in the side chain and have some serious control over your effects. Don't listen to that thought, you'll be out almost a grand.
Also, buy the M-Audio midi to USB cable. The cheaper ones don't always work. Also, you can beg at your local Guitar Center and they might update it for you, especially if you bought from them. It'll save you $40.

CheeseBlocks small wonder. http://www.cheeseblockseffects.com/S...i_Booster.html Mine was an earlier version of this, but I think I got it for $50 on ebay.

The one thing holding me back is the limit of 3 effects at one time (especially since the noise gate and compression would each count. Also, it doesn't seem like you can run effects in parallel, which has become sort of an important part of my sound. The M13 seems like it is closer to what I want (mainly for the effects loop), but it is bigger, more complicated and more expensive.
Maybe someday... |

If you're looking for switchs, mods, your basic options for the M9 or M13 beyond the unit itself, check out: http://this1smyne.com/pedals.html
Talk to Dan - nice guy and he knows his stuff.

Maybe someday... | Noise gate doesn't (necessarily) count, compressor does.
The M9 has a "global" noise gate that is applied after all the effects, and can vary by scene (meaning each scene gets its own settings). It doesn't count as one of the three effects. You really get 5 "effects" at a time, but one of them is always a noise gate and one is always a looper. The other 3 you can set to whatever you want (including other noise gates).
That was what sold me.
And true, you can't put effects in parallel unless you bought two M9s. Not that there's anything *wrong* with that.

Personally, I've gone to just keeping some mild Noise Gate running on each scene via each scenes preferences so it doesn't take a slot. |

You might have just saved me from sending my m9 to an out of city service centre. Thank you. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
