Hey folks,
After waiting for a year for the Markbass super synth to come out, I just read some reviews about the tracking on the octaver in the Line 6 M9. That got the wheels turning, and I'm thinking that stacking up combinations of octave, filters, and even the dedicated synth patches should yield some pretty huge synth sounds. Plus, the ability to sync it's tempo and call up patches with MIDI is a big plus over the Markbass. Anyhow, just curious how all of you M9/M13 owners are digging it for that type of stuff.
Thanks! |

I'm really thinking that the key is going to be stacking them up 3 at a time, though. Especially in front of my regular board, I'm coming up with some ideas I can't wait to try. (Octave + Sawtooth + Throbber/Filter Factory is one I'm excited about). Also, I could never get the seek wah model adjusted right on the FM4, should be easier on the M9 I hope. |

Tracking is really good and there are heaps of possibilities for stacking pedals/patches and the expression capabilities are great. Like John Davis said, I won't be replacing my BMS and I'll definitely keep my Octavius Squeezer but the synth sounds in the M9 totally hold their own.
Would still like to try a Deep Impact though...

But this thread and then somebody posting on HCBX thread on how to get an 8bit nintendo sound, made me play with it a little bit tonight.
Pretty freaking cool. Tracks well, but I was trying to play the quick octaves (like the music on Super Mario Brothers level 1-2), the "synth" seemed to track the bottom octave unless I super cleanly muted that string when I played the top octave. Is this normal for a synth pedal? I didn't try it in any other modes though, maybe this weekend. |

| | | | ive never heard of the m9 but i have never played a synth pedal that i thought was worth a crap. I like the features of the moogs but ive never played through one. The moogs have lfos, oscillators, and envelopes, which are what make real synths so RAD. I have a boss synth pedal and it sucks. i have 5 synths which i play sub bass through which are awesome and if anything comes close to the sounds that an ms2000 can make i would buy one. but as far as im concerned i have never played a synth pedal for a bass that wasnt a gimmick. |

On the plus side, they will clean up your technique in a hurry.
