Malekko 616 vs Carbon Copy MEGA SHOWDOWN

Sign in to disble this ad
Are you ready?

Got my Malekko 616 analog delay today. No gags inside this pedal though

So far, the delay alone sounds nice. I only like the modulation on the most lowest setting...when it does that swirly stuff-- it's not my thing...but that touch of modulation is nice to have.

I've noticed mine really distorts the delayed notes (on guitar) if I hit the strings hard enough. Malekko said it is supposed to distort but I believe mine distorts a little too much than what it's supposed to sound like...

All in all, the hype was a little too much...but I think the 919 is when the hype will be considered feasible.

Without further ado, clips!

In this clip, I show off the different bypass modes and play with modulation towards the end.

616 first, then CC. Both with slight modulation.

can you tell any audible difference between the buffered and TB settings on the 616?

yes. a huge difference actually. Listen closely in the first clip. Maybe it's not as audible for bass but guitar, it's like night and day.

Malekko has out and said that there shouldn't be that much distortion and that they'd be fixing them for free. This is only in the first batch of pedals and all the new ones will have the problem resolved.

Malekko E616 owners, please read

That being said, I really like the sound of this delay! Christmas perhaps?

Yeah, I'm the one that started the whole "OMG DISTORTED DELAYED NOTES!" thing so I sent mine today to Malekko for repair. And a free t-shirt
