Malekko B:assmaster owners, HELP!!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,

I recently purchased a brand new Malekko B:assmaster, from a shop in Caligormia. I live in Spain... Well, when it got here, I was gagging to try it, so I opened the back plate, have a laugh because of the plastic teeth, put in a new alkaline battery (not the **** battery they provide), and plugged it. Well, at any knob setting, the general volume went dramatically down. Iread the instructions and saw that the bass volume knob should control the raw signal gain, that is the clean signal from the bassguitar. The instructions say that on the 12 o'clock, means no gain, so, I suppose, that is no volume modifications. It says too that that know can be used as a normal signal booster. But in my unit, that know did nothing, or if it did, my ears could not tell the difference. As I said before, if I was playin "clean" (pedal off), the volume was much higher than after turning in the pedal....
Please, if you own a B:assmaster, can you please confirm that what I just explain is NOT the way the pedal is supposed to work? I have already shipped the pedal back to the States!!

Thanks to all!!

sounds like you got a defective one. Malekko is a member here, too... maybe he'll chime in.

Assmaster rocks.

My B:assmaster is always louder than the clean signal, so I think yours was defective.
It can be tricky onstage and piss the sound guy off, so I have to be sure to lower the volume on my bass when I engage the pedal. Are you getting another one?

Thanks for that fast response!!

Yes, the guy at the shop (analogue haven) has been very kind and helpful up to now. I intend to have a replacement unit shipped. Although the volume of the effect was very low, I could still heard the effct, and I must say I loved it. It is such a mess though having to return a pedal to he other side of the world... I am so glad to hear that pedal was faulty...

Out of curosity, were you running it in the effects loop?

Because if you were, then it wasn't defective - it's simply not supposed to be used in there. It should be running into the main input of your amp.

Volume drops like that are to be expected if using a pedal that isn't designed for use in the effects loop. Most pedals should be running into the main input of the amp:

BASS OUTPUT => Pedal => AMP INPUT

Yes I was using the pedal "traditionally": INPUT to the bassguitar, output to the amp.
