Sounds like it really gives you what you need. If it does what you want it to do, I'd buy it.

It is awesome, I love mine. I vastly prefer it over the Bright.

There are a couple of really good delay threads from a few months back, search for them for other options.

And there's the thing....Everyone is going to have their favorites, but what sounds great to me might sound like chit to you.

Have you tried others? If so, which ones? And what was it you didn't like about them/liked about the 600 Dark better?

Why do you prefer the dark?

I also heard, from a pretty reliable source I might add, that they suck.

are the dark and bright based on any particular classic circuits? (unofficially of course)

because I'm GASing for a 600 Bright pretty hard right now. Reminds me of a DMM, and with expression-controlled regen? Will it self-oscillate as well?

on a rare serious note, they are totally different pedals...I PERSONALLY prefer the Dark version, it's smoother, it handles low notes better..the repeats have less distortion..

BUT My business partner Paul..bass player likes the bright better because it'll cut through better...

I know this is a stupid answer, but it's all i got...if you go one route and think you may like the other version better mail it to me and i'll send oyu the other...or find a store in your area that sells hand made pedals and insist they carry Malekko products!

Is there not enough headroom for bass? I had an HBE Mimic Mock II that I had to return as the repeats distorted terribly due to there not being enough headroom for bass. Great on guitar; bass---not so much.

THere is a surprising amount of headroom, more than a typical 9v delay.
And it'll handle a bass just fine.

Because it sounds better.

They both sound amazing for typical delay usage, but the Dark sounds much cleaner for self-oscillation. The Bright distorts way too quickly on multiple repeats for my taste, but if you're into that chirpy lunar landing sorta sound, go for it.

Another option is the Subdecay Echobox it's my fav delay and I'm picking up another production model soon to replace my prototype I have of it. But tonally it just seems perfect for bass but in saying that I've not tried the Malekko I'd love to and who knows maybe I'll get a Malekko to replace my Echobox proto as my oscilation delay and get another Echobox on top.

Can never have enough delay ay ay ay ay y

Personally 300ms isn't enough for me on bass it's subtle at best but fi thats the sound your going for, just an added ambiance to your sound then 300 will be fine
