Malekko no longer shipping to Australia!?

Sign in to disble this ad
After lusting over a B:ASSMASTER for months I finally decided it was time to bite the bullet... only to be met by the following message on the Malekko ordering page:

We will no longer ship to Australia.
For Australian orders, please contact Niche Music Supplies.

ARGH! I emailed the above contact a couple of days ago but haven't has a response yet

Does anyone know why Australia is off limits??

Distributors generally have exclusive distribution rights to their area. Did you try calling?

If they follow the usual practice the Aussie price will be tripple that of the US... A shame, but the silver lining is I don't know what it is so I'm not gassing for one. And I'm not returning to this thread, so I can't find out.

Oh, I think you'll be back...

Also, tough break on the B:Assmaster. If you look on the accessories forums, you can snag them from there from time to time. But I'd wait out the distributor in Australia first. Might not be that expensive.

You can always buy it on ebay - there are plenty of them with worldwide shipping.

It's a fuzz pedal baby! And yes... i'm not expecting good news on the price.

Yeah but I'm looking for the silicon version with the expression jack and this option only seems to be available from Malekko direct

EDIT - I had trouble with Malekko too.
I emailed them a while back - with them telling me NO DICE!
Maybe that auusie guy ripping off Malekko had something to do with it?

Niche=-----
They did email me back. Hang in there - maybe pester 'em!
They were pretty quick too.
Sounded keen, but I didn't get any good feedback about the expression out's etc.

I emailed them just before the whole "sub-prime" etc etc - when the aussie dollar was 95 US cents. Back then it was still around $350AUD (form memory) for a fuzz pedal.

I decided to get a supercollider instead.
Very awesome.
Prolly build a blender too....

I gotta say, he must have lost some business through it. I wanted a b:assmaster on impulse back when the dollar was rocking but then I read about the non-shipping thing. Now the dollar is dead and my taste has changed I doubt I'll ever buy one.

If it really was because of that ripoff guy, he should just give us his address and the nearest person can go kill him or something?

I'll take a picture of his severed head on a pike wearing the fake teeth for the site!

Hi, I'm Anthony from the distributor of Malekko in Australia, Niche Music Supplies.

Marshbass: Sorry I haven't been able to get through to you, the emails keep bouncing back from hotmail. It's happening with quite a few people I try to email, but not all the time. I'm not sure what's causing it. I've tried again this morning so I hope it gets through.

I'll PM you the email now also, so hopefully it's guaranteed to get there.

Once again, sorry it hasn't made it through earlier.

This is why I love TalkBass! Not only do the bass-heads reside here, but the distributors and manufacturers get involved as well. It's enough to give ya the warm fuzzies.

I've bought a few pedals based on their designers' inputs on this forum (not Malekko so far, sadly - nothing personal, guys!), and I've been totally satisfied with all of them so far.

The whole business of importing them to the UK is a bitch though. We need more UK-based effect developers.

Sounds like you just volunteered! So what kind of pedal(s) are you gonna make?
