Man in the Mirror bass line (what effects??!)

What effects do I need to achieve this sound?
The attached youtube clip is from the Michael Jackson Dangerous tour and has Don Boyette playing the bass line on one of those keyboard guitar thingies. I've never really used effect pedals and have no idea where to start to look to get this sound.
