Mark Bass Super Synth vs. Akai Deep Impact

Need a little input here. I would like to get a synth for my bass rig. I'm really diggin' the tones from the Akai Deep Impact, but I don't know if I want to give up about a grand for one (ebay prices). The Mark Bass Super Synth seems built well, but I've never plugged one in or have heard one in action (other than a couple of goofy youtube vids). Any thoughts thoughts on this would be appreciated. I've owned both and would say they're quite a bit different. The DI really excels at danceable, bouncy old school fat synth tones as well as cheesy 70's tones. The SS is arguably more versatile, definitely more modern and tweakable. It can cover most of the ground of the DI and then some, but it lacks that "it" factor. I also found that Markbass octaver to be a giant disappointment.
