Hello, I just received a Markbass compressore I traded. I was testing the pedal when I try to use the extremest compression according to demonstration video (ratio MAX, attack MIN): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCIaGUmECwo
Then I realice that my sound was completely choked just like the video said. But it said choked not completely muted. As you see in the poor video I just shoot. When the ratio is set to max and the attack to it's minimum position in my compressore and you play a hard note, it sound a hard kick and suddenly the pedal completely mutes the sound then the volume it's slowly increased: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQccxkmrL6A
I'm sorry for the poor quality of the video, it was shoot with my mac internal camera and built in microphone.
I wonder if this is the normal behavior of the pedal, because this is the first compressore I ever heard. Or I received a damage pedal?
I saw also in the next video that the sound it's not completely muted when the pedal is set as the previous configuration (ratio MAX, attack MIN): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJNGBH-OktY

Also adjust the threshold--turn it up all the way (clockwise), to start. Is the problem still happening? Then start to turn the threshold knob anti-clockwise, until the yellow "comp" light flashes.
Try these things, and let us know what happens. |

| | | | I just got a compressore as well. Mine did the exact same thing when I set an extremely high ratio, low threshold and really pounded on the strings.
My buddy put on one of the "techno" presets on his vdrums while I did that and we had a cool trancey sounding jam.
Kinda want a volume pedal now so I can recreate that dynamic. |

Try these things, and let us know what happens. | when I turn the threshold all the way up the problem is not present, but non of the notes are compressed.
when I start turn the threshold anti-clockwise, if I pound the string very hard the problem appears.
I think the pedal it's not that good to work in a extrem condition, so I need a proper setting in order to have a compression that covers all my playing styles.
Thanks Bongo

That calms me a bit, this means that the pedal don't operates at its optimal in a extrem configuration, and my pedal it's not broken or something.
As I just replay to Bongo, I need to find my optimal setting

It only does it with the Ratio fully to the right, Attack fully to the left, and Threshold left of (lower than) 10:00. But at that setting, the sound drops out and then swells back up. |

Trying with different (2 Ps, 1 J ) basses and bongo's settings, no problem.
Should it be some kind of tube failure? | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
