markbass compressore really working that well?

I ordered a Markbass Compressore a few months ago and it showed up last week (I'd almost forgot about it). I plugged it in, not really expecting to be thrilled as in general I don't like compressors. The only one that I've ever been happy with is a Summit TLA-50 that I've used for recording.

Lo and behold, I plugged the Sadowsky RV5PJ into the compressore, then direct into an Apogee One. I dialed up a few settings, both hard compression with high threshold (limiting) and lower threshold with lower ratio and relatively quick attack and release. I switched it in and out and tried to listen and feel the difference. I wanted to hate it and find the tone sucking, but I swear that it actually sounded better with the comp. Very full and rich tone and even string response. I haven't tried it live yet but will this weekend. I had two gigs last week (jazz trio and funk) but didn't use it because I was just going to send it back in a fit of "pedal-free purist". Am I gas-blind, or is it really that good?

I have one ordered. It's supposed to ship around the end of March.

I usually have a honeymoon phase with any new comp I like, but I can tell you I still enjoy the Markbass long after the honeymoon.

It's not 100% perfect for every instrument and every tone, but if I could have only one comp pedal, it would be a strong contender for that position.

I love mine as of now.
I love having so much control. Every facet of compression can be tweaked.
I fiddle with controls like a nut but I think ive about got my two or three favorite settings picked out.

I think this is a keeper.

I still feel that way about my Trex Squeezer, after nearly 3 yrs with it. Sometimes, because real estate on my board is tight, I think about "losing" a pedal, to make room for something new. When it comes to my comp, I play with it, on/off/on/off, and the difference is really night and day. It's a HUGE part of my tone. I belive the Markbass comp is in the same ballpark, tonally.

I'm still waiting for mine. I got an order cancellation notice from Guitar Center (and I didn't cancel it) and called them. They told me that after a certain time on backorder the order is canceled automatically. I had them put my order back in and I'm hoping I'm not moved to the back of the line since I've been waiting since late January.

Hehe, random calling...

How are you liking it Pastor?

For me it worked so well i couldn't even hear it

It is a great pedal, just not exactly for me.

im loving the pedal. it has a slew of options. and i am an admitted control freak.

i generally am going with a high threshold and a high ratio
so it limits only the biggest spikes. just what i was looking for.
but going the other way adds a nice smoothness.

i can hear it for sure.
