Markbass Compressore vs MXR Bass Compressor?

Hey guys, if you had the choice b/w the two....which one would you go for and why?

I've got a thumb NT5 and im looking to dial in Ryan Martinies tone. I know he uses a DBX 160A, but i'm more interested in a pedal instead.

Have you checked fellow TBer Bongomania's reviews at his excellent website?

Based on that, I chose the MXR Bass Compressor and no complaints so far.

The meter on the MXR really helps. I am 100% happy with mine.

As of Friday, I have both, but I'm still early in the learning curve with the MXR.

I had the EBS, but use the MXR now.

I have never used the mxr, but I love my multi comp. The ebs has an led that changes brightness just like the meter on the mxr. The ebs is a little wider than the mxr if space is an issue. I love the simplicity of the multi.

Wow, it looks like you all favor the MXR over the EBS. But after looking at musiciansfriends (i know i know) they have a 5% off sale so the Markbass Compressore has now been put into the equation. And based off of Mongos Reviews this thing is a BEAST. And now I can get it for 189 which is the same price of the MXR. Damn, these choices are tough

Subbed, I have the MB and I really like it but I've thought of trading for the MXR just because of the size and power requirements of the MB. Tone-wise no complaints though.

im just about getting ready to buy either an MXR or the Compressore. The Compressore runs on 18V but it does come with a power adapter. And the only price difference right now is 10 dollars. Hopefully someone that has played both can share some insight!

They give 2 completely different compressor tones. The Markbass adds more warmth and punch to your sound whereas the MXR is crystal clear and offers a higher compression ratio. I've tried both and ultimately chose the MXR for its clarity.

Be sure to let us know what you think of it once you've experimented with it. I went with the MXR as, it was a little cheaper and I could get one locally which was the deciding factor for me.

So I picked up the Compressore and although it is an amazing compressor the tone I was looking for isnt their. So I posted it on ebay for 159 shipped (6days old)if anyone is interested. I will be using that money to pick up the MXR

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

I think the bonus for the MXR, besides tone and true bypass is size. I like Markbass pedals, but they are double in size and use other volt adapters than 9v. So, I pick the MXR. I have the envelope filter and fuzz deluxe and love'em. I am a Tech 21 lover, but MXR is making me love thier procduct over Tech 21 or other companies I really like to buy and back.

You can get a GREAT price on the MX87 if you send an email to Skaught Parry at forum@muciansfriend.com and say that you are a Talk Bass member.

I have a newish MXR I'll trade you for your Markbass comp. Let me know. I love my mxr but I am on a vintage kick at the moment and am looking for warmth before clarity.

I had the exact same experience when doing the A/B with these two units at a local GC, and made the same choice. I did love the tone and warmth of the MB, too - But that clarity on the MXR Matt speaks of was just sick and the selling point for me as well.

If the MXR doesn't work, the next I would try is the Empress Compressor. Please set us know how the MXR works out....
