MarkBass Riverbero as delay pedal

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all. I'm new to the forums. Been lurking for a few days, but haven't seen anything pertaining to what I'm looking for.

I recently started doing some research for a delay pedal, and everything that I have heard and seen about MarkBass says they are a great product.

My question: Does anyone who has the Riverbero have it set to do a delay? Is it possible with the software provided?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

A related question would be: "does anyone even have the Reverbero?" I haven't seen any posts about it here, other than mentioning that it exists.

IMO, the custom preset switch thing is a bit of a waste when mixing bass and reverb. How many bass players need several reverbs available to them at their feet? The controlling system for it drives up the price a bit beyond comfort for me, and for most people I imagine.

I'm not necessarily looking for the reverb aspect of it. I'm wondering if it can be used as a delay...or if anyone can suggest a good delay pedal.

I think what Freaqy was suggesting was one of the reasons nobody has bought one of these. As far as good delays, there are loads of threads about them, so start there.

The Riverbero is currently available in the US.

It's not designed to be used as a delay. What you can do with it is apply a predelay to the reverb, and you can repeat that delay. So it's not delaying your source sound, it's delaying the reverb.
That's a pretty particular effect, and if that's what you want, this pedal does it well and in a highly adjustable way thanks to the software.

As other posters have noted, reverb is not a commonly used effect for bass, but if you're either playing solo bass or in a musical context that has a lot of space to it, it can be really beautiful.
The pedal can also be used with any other kind of instrument.

Cheers,
Peter

I would have bought one, I could use a reverb with presets accessible via footswitches. Unfortunately it only has a mono input. This seems like a very strange design choice given that reverb is primarily used at the end of an effects chain, and markbass has a couple of other pedals that have stereo out. It's a case of so near yet so far...

Probably very few.

However, I am counted amongst such.

I have a Strymon Bluesky (whcih I use the pre-set foot switch so that is two reverbs at my feet) as well as a Line 6 Verbzilla that is modded so I can change the module tones on the fly with an larger external mini expression pedal.

In addition, I have another mod on it that allows me to adjust the time on it via a different min expression pedal.

And quite frankly, I could use/ would love to have 3-4 different presets on EACH of my reverb pedals...

FWIW, I didn't mean to suggest that it was something that wouldn't be practical to anyone, I just meant that, practicing solely as a reverb pedal, the pedal would be useful to very few when considering its size and price. Consider the alternatives, such as a Boss RV-5 or a DigiTech HW RV-7; both are considered to be great reverbs by most here, and both have a much smaller footprint at nearly half the cost.

Now, if the programmability of the MarkBass were coupled with more effects (such as modulation, delay, and included expression pedal input), and had a pricetag of ~$350, I think it would be a more reasonable solution to bass players. As it is, a standalone preset-based reverb, it comes in at nearly 3/4 the cost of the two older Eventides, and over half of the newest one. Ouch.

At any rate, this is one man's opinion. If the pedal is useful to you, all of what I said may be disregarded. The individual's perspective and use is what matters.

Are there clips available for this? I'm intrigued.

If you just want delay, instead of the Riverbero buy a DD-20, bank the rest of your $$, and don't look back.
