Markbass superbooster output level

Does anyone know what the nominal output level of the SuperBooster's DI is? Given it's 12v, I was hoping it might have enough sauce to run a power amp. Looks like it probably would, but I don't see a "line level" switch anywhere there.

Try plugging it into the effects return of your amp and see what happens. That'll give you direct access to your amps power section.

I'd have to buy one to test it, in which case I'd just test it with my power amp

Never got an answer from Markbass about this, so I'll hold off and revisit when I have the funds to screw around with pedals some more. I am really thinking that an eq pedal and a super booster might be a great preamp though.

You could take your amp down to GC and try it out there.

Discovered this while searching this. So, bumping this one up from the dead. RP, did you ever try this pedal in front of a power amp? Anyone else? Thanks.

Hm... I do have the same question.

It would be great if the pedal had the power to drive a poweramp, I don't care whether it is the jack output or the XLR.

Its XLR output is line level only, that's why there is no switch. The only boost comes from the Boost knob, the range of which is 0dB - 14dB. That seems pretty low. Most preamps I've looked at have a lot more than 14dB gain available. Markbass' Studio Pre has 50dB gain, and the Markbass heads can add +23dB gain at the preamp output.

The Markbass superbooster is pretty subtle. At noon I don't notice a volume increase. I think it's there to make up for the volume cut and mid freq. scoop that happens from the filters.

I tried it and it works, however it's just like CrewsControl mentioned - to work as a preamplifier it should have more gain. Too bad, that would have pretty much covered one of my problems... Let's keep looking...

Well, I guess you'd have to know what your pre will put out and how sensative the input of the amp you want to use is. I've thought about using my Maxon Cp9+ pro after one of these just to see what it would do.
