Maroon 5 synth copping

Sign in to disble this ad
For an upcoming wedding gig, my band is playing the song Makes Me Wonder by Maroon 5. It appears that the bassist is using some sort of synth on the part. its an extremely open, full sound with copious fuzzy goodness. Des anyone have any suggestions or experience recreating this sound? in thing of trying a Bass Microsynth in conjunction with a separate fuzz.

Any other ideas?

Bump for this, as I am curious as well. This is one of my wife's favorite songs.

my cover band does this song. i am using an EHX MicroPog with the dry and oct up all the way, and a EHX Bass Big Muff on bass boost mode. I admit its not perfect, but it works. A gated fuzz would be way better, as its hard to keep the muff from feeding back at times. If anyone has a better idea, or knew what was used on the record, I'd love to know.

I'd think live any type of octave, with some serious fuzz, then some chorus would bang out a convincing synth tone similar to that since there's no obvious pitch/filter sweep going on. You could probably make due with some other type of modulation (flange/phase) set to a super slow rate with a depth low enough to not be totally obvious you have flange/phase running.
