Anyone currently use this or have any input on this as a distortion pedal for bass? In Store Used USED MARSHALL GOV'NOR PEDAL and more Guitar Effects at GuitarCenter.com.
I'm thinking about trying one out but would rather hear some trusted advise before I spend the money.
I don't live near a guitar store that has one so trying one out is not an option.

Marshall-y. Keep in mind that it is popular enough that there are clones with a preferable size and format (i.e. knobs on top) - available for a lot less cash.
I personally prefer the Guv'nor II for bass - the 4-band EQ makes it flexible. And it's available used for under $50. Sounds significantly different from the original though. |

The Gov'nor is pretty BA though! |

It's a good middle ground between OD and fuzz, IMO. You might be able to get one cheaper on evilbay, though. At least there you can sell it for about what you paid for if you don't like it. I don't know if GC will take a return on a used item easily or not. |

I got tired of my Xotic BB Pre's smoothness, first tried Green Rhino as a bright (high mids) overdrive and now the Gov II is my dark overdrive (lower mid center, less treble even with mid and treble maxed). (As of 8/1/11 that is...) Both have a rougher, more cutting sound than the BB. Gov. II is perfect driving an envelope for growell, and sending it through the Attack Goat & VT adds the high end it's missing. I keep the "bass" at noon, but the All-Important "deep" is at 3pm. ("Bass" is boomy, guitar bass, not real low end as we know it. "Deep" is the true low end)
This thing blows away any Monkeys. Low end IMPACT-present. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
