Hey all, I've never had much luck with filters... started in the early 80s with a lime green DOD FX25... had a bassballs for a while... tried a meatball and a Dr. Q briefly... never found what I was after.
I think the Maxon AF9 will be the one for me.
I am still getting a feel for it... but here is a little clip "Bee -> AF9 -> AD9 -> Soundcard" http://www.myselfalone.com/tracks/mp3s/af9_ad9.mp3
Settings are:
AF9 = Sens & Peak @ 5, Filter @ LP, Drive @ Up, Range @ Low
AD9 = Delay Time @ 10 o'clock, Repeat @ all the way down, Delay Level @ 9 o'clock. |

The tone is wonderful.
After learning how to use it properly, I love my AF9!

The Associates Degree needed to operate the thing was the turn off. Pedals mostly have an ON / OFF switch... all the controls are to make the "ON" bit sound good. Too many options and you may as well get a multi FX unit since one "ON" position is wasted on a bunch of killer tones.
Thanks everyone next test... band rehearsal tonight |

If the sensitivity was un-adjustable, it would sound awesome with some basses and awful with others.

I spoke with Brad at Tone Factor via email and he's talked me into trying one out... |

The clips sound great and I know build quality will be top notch... but I'm still about thinking how touchy my DOD FX25 was and trying to justify a $140 DOD 440 clone. |

Thanks everyone next test... band rehearsal tonight | i hear you bro. im wanting to get a Mutron to A/B with my Meatball. I agree with it's difficulty of use. I've owned it for a while now and I'm still having trouble finding the same tones in and out. |

i think its really cool and it does has great low end in the clip, compare to some other filters that still normally hi-middy range
but yeah  way to go'
ever a/b it with any Q-tron families? |
