Maxon CS-9 Chorus

Sign in to disble this ad
I went a did a search. I found nothing that was really helpful.

http://www.maxonfx.com/9/cs9/

Anybody have any thoughts or experience with this one? I'm starting to look into getting a better chorus pedal. This is the only one I'm looking at that I haven't heard about.

Thanks!

I have one and I believe it is great!. Very well build, true bypass and a very nice tone. Not cheap but I don't think i'll ever buy another chorus again.

I have a couple new 'pro' Maxons and love them.... My chorus is the older 2 knob version though.

This pedal is very nice on bass, IMO.
I used to have one but traded it with a guitar player pal.

Why do we not see more of these on bass? Its one of the best pedals I've heard, but I almost never see them on anyone's pedal board. Are there others choruses that sound that much better, or are they rare due to the price (I got mine cheap used and it was still expensive).

I've been using the 4 knob CS9Pro for a little over a year. Expensive, yes, but it ended my search for the perfect chorus pedal. If I added up all the money I wasted on all the previous chorus pedals I've owned, I could've bought several Maxon's. Truly lush, analog, and can be tweaked so many ways, I'm also surprised more people aren't using it.

i had a CS550 and it was amazing. the m-level control is supposed to make it sound better on bass, but i had no problems with the 100% wet signal. other than that the effect is so bloody freaking clean (as in the opposite of dirty/noisy).

i powered it using a 9V adaptor, instead of the supplied maxon 10V adaptor because of voltage differences. I don't know if 1V makes a great deal of difference, but i felt that it could do with a tiny little bit of extra headroom.

i recently sold it to a local jazz player who told me it was "ridiculously good". now i'm waiting for the cs-9 to come in the mail.

the cs-9 works on a 9V battery, but that's like 2 hours continuous use on a manganese battery? rubbish. i will keep mine connected to a daisy chain.

Mine works great on a daisy chain.

I get the same thing from the CS9 pro you got from the CS550; I can run it all the way up to 100% wet and have a perfectly wonderful sound, although I usually run t around 12 o'clock.

I was tinkering with the knobs on the pedal last night and came to the conclusion it sounds great on any setting. With the delay time that most analog chorus pedals lack you can get some wacky effects by diming all the knobs.

i especially like the delay time. it really gives you something that other choruses might not

I had a CS550 for a while and although the chorus sound was great...I found it "hissy"...anyone else notice that?

I would like to find a great single pedal space 9v chorus (like the size of the CS9-Pro), but have yet to hit on one that I've fallen in love with (and I've been through a bunch)...but I haven't tried the CS9-Pro...I want one I can run off a Voodoo Lab or Fuel Tank PS...

Right now, I'm using the TC Electronic SCF, and love it, but it's AC and larger than a single space pedal...

I run mine from a Voodoo Labs pp2+, and I believe previously, from a One-Spot. No problems. And absolutely silent. That was always my biggest complaint with many other chorus pedals, that annoying hiss. To my ears, the CS9Pro is the best all around chorus, ever.

I don't notice a hiss either. The only thing I do notice is a slight volume increase when the pedal is activated. It doesn't bother me, but I see how this could be a problem. I haven't opened it up, is there a trimpot to adjust output volume?

I have a CS-9 Pro and think it's great. No hiss, although I do agree about the slight volume increase. I haven't looked for a trimpot because it's just not that big of an issue to me.
