I use the Ibanez reissue AD9. I'll trade up to the Maxon one of these days

Dude, the Maxon AD999 is my favorite delay pedal. I love the layout, the functionality, and the ease of self-osciliation (if you're into that sort of thing). I'm not sure I'd trade one for a Boomerang, because I know I'd get a lot of use out of the Boomerang, but if you're Jonesing for a delay, the Maxon is my holy grail.

it's an 'always on' pedal for me. just a faint slap back. I might actually keep the Ibanez when I get the Maxon so I can set one to be a longer delay

not sure... I've never had the desire to make outerspace sounds. I'll give it a try later.

Depends on what you mean by outer space sounds...

You can crank the Delay Time left to right (whichever way decreases the delay time.. It's been a while since I messed around with one) while sounding a note to get some really cool "rubber band on interstellar acid" sounds, especially if you're running a fuzz and a flange before it...

Generally on bass you need more than 300ms to be usable I've had an AD-9 and it didn't do it for me the Subdecay Echobox (Which I now have the production model) is just the best delay for bass I've found, I got an EHX SMM/H as well and the echobox is still better, way better

The Ibanez reissue I have only does 300ms which is fine for my intended purpose... the Maxon AD-9 pro does up to 450ms

300 is good for that reverby slapback effect but I find the AD-9 too limiting especially for the money but that is of course my personal opinion

i don't think any thing under 300ms is limiting for delay!!!
my guitarist has ibanez AD9 and he uses it for simple slap back...

under 300ms is for reverb, above 1,5 sec is for looping

so the in between is all good delay time!!!

the new AD999 goes up to 900ms, the previous AD900 goes to 500ms or some thing like that

I'm finding I like limited choices from any one given pedal. I'd rather a single killer setting than a few (unless it's switchable between the few without bending down to reset everything).

That Echobox does look good though... there are a few Subdecay pedals I'd love to try.

It's just my personal preference of liking delays around 500ms never really dig anything over 1 second so the Echobox just ticks all the boxes for me.

I wouldn't say anything under 300 ms is reverb, a 250 ms delay certainly isn't reverb.

Do you want an analog delay? If you want analog delay, you aren't going to want the Echobox.

You need more than 300ms

If you aren't sure what you need get something like the Boss DD-20 or EHX SMM/H that will cover a lot of ground

Have you considered the Line 6 DL-4?
