Maxon OD820... got it!!!

i don't remember where some one asked me about this thing... so i will post it so every one has a bit of this...

first of all i must say i love the screamers... but most screamers are useful for bass when they are in a mix or blend loop... i have tried lots of ibanez/ maxon TSx... each and every one is different... the ones mad by ibanez that are recent reissues are crap... but others are great but all very different!!!

now for the quick review...

first of all its big and feels very good... i plugged it in turned drive to 0 and tone, level to middle point... for the first time it sounds clean with the drive to 0... only the TS9 with Toshiba chip inside sounds so clean with the drive set to 0 but those rare pedals don't get that great drive that others with JRC do...
but i love my TS9 with that Toshiba chip inside for a great treble boost...

i then experimented with the new toy changed the knobs around...
it surprised me that it never lost the low end even if the tone knob was all the way to treble side (the loss of bottom happened in all other TS when you turn tone in treble way)
the drive was very interesting at 0 you get a totally clean signal then you can feel and hear by turning it up that the drive kicks in... and it starts to have that drive noise when not played ...the only setting on drive that i didn't like was right when you get past 0 to 9 o clock it sounds strange and weak compared to other positions... from 9 to the end its all sweet drive heaven... by turning the level knob around i found out that this thing really has more head room than any other TS around... i suppose this is form the internal converter... they say that this pedal has a converter inside that converts from 9v to 18v but you don't need a 18v power supply or two batteries...

i can say finally a perfect tube screamer... it holds all the good things from all other TS that we love and has none of those that we hate... and tons of headroom and drive!!! i love it!!!

I'll have to try one. I do love Maxon's pro-level pedals.

Awesome -- I really want to try that pedal.

The 9->18 thing is cool, just use a power supply with these pedals since they'll suck down a batter twice as fast as other pedals.

i maxon the maxon cp9+pro compression pedal and the battery actually lasts just as long as any other pedal i have. though i do leave that pedal on all the time for the most part...
that od looks really cool, what did it cost ya? also, has anyone tried any other maxon OD pedals from the nine or vintage series? i love my maxon comp and id bet the 9 series organic overdrive or vintage OD are great. i just wonder how they are on bass? anybody know?
