Aside from features, IOs, etc. How does the sound quality compare between these 2 units?

Well, I can only compare the ME-50B and the GT-6B, and hands-down, the GT-6B wins!!! Way better sound, effects are much more lush-sounding, and the COSM modeling is respectable. I've heard the GT-10(guitar) being demo'd in a music shop, sent direct through their house PA, and it was nothing shy of incredible. There are players here using the GT-10B, hopefully they can give you a little more.

I'm sorry, but there is NO chance that either the MB-50B or the GT-6B have the slightest chance against the GT-10B.

Speaking of tone quality the 10B is a whole other level.

I own both. The sounds on the ME-50B are pretty good, but my major problem with the unit was the lag time of a few milliseconds that occurs when changing patches during a live performance. This is vastly improved in the GT-10B. You also get much more variety of sounds, and GumtownBassMan has a program you can download to edit and backup your patches to your computer. So, if you intend on making a lot of presets to change during songs in a live performance, i would spring for the GT-10B. If you need a more basic unit for home use, the ME-50B works fine. It is actually a little easier to practice learning songs with the ME-50B because you can easily plug in your iPod to its line input and play along, something harder to do on the GT-10B
