Sign in to disble this ad
hi there!
i´ve got a question about the meshuggah bass.
I found this video ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOR0h...eature=related
after about 1:10 the bass beginns. And I just love the sound!
Does anybody know what Dick (the bass player) use as distortion/overdrive or whatelse? How can I get the same (similar) sound ?
Thanks for your help
cya

| | | | I've read he uses guitar heads...
That's all I can offer, though.
Seems like a Rat or similar could get it. Might have to try it out on my Rat2 and see.

Sounds like a fulltone bassdriver on a high gain setting with the tone on the treble side.
you could also get that sound with guv'nor and a blend.

3:33 you can see the EBS cabs too...

I run 4 effects in parallel ... the line6 bass pod, ech21 vt bass, mxr bass di+, and the Marshall guv, nor. Usually I mix clean and slightly distorted signals together. But when I set the marshall to a very aggressive overdrive and mix the other 3 milder signals in I get a nice overdriven sound.
Also playing with a pick helps get that sound. |

Guess you can't have it all, man that is a killer distortion (or is it overdrive?) |

That's a cool idea that I never thought of...

They are made by Rolls. They are passive and require no power. They can go 4 to 1 or 1 to 4.
The cool thing is now I can run effects parallel. Then if one signal is overdriven I can still mix in a clean or moderate signal so i don't lose any low end. |
