MF-101 settings question

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,
I will have a loaner MF-101 for a a day or two--will play with it on some recordings.
Are there any favorite "go to" settings for one of these anybody digs in particular? I don't have the expressio pedal, btw. I'll be shooting for a little env/touch wah kinda vibe maybe, or even just a nice smooth dubby blob of a sound.
Thanks!

Ok, my favorite tones from mine...

First off, always set the drive so that the LED turns yellow when you play, and red when you dig in hard.

Ok, here's my absolute favorite tone I can get from it, sounds just like the bassline from "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails. It gets some killer low end, so watch your speakers and your eardrums

Mix at fully wet
Cutoff at 8o'clock
Resonance just slightly past 3o'clock, almost the point of self oscillation, but not quite
Amount around 2o'clock

Another good standard "auto-wah" sound is achieved through this.

Mix at fully wet
Cutoff at 11o'clock
Resonance at 2o'clock
Amount at 3o'clock

And finally, a good dub style tone would be...

Mix at fully wet, maybe roll it off to 3o'clock at most.
Cutoff at 8o'clock
Resonance at 2o'clock
Amount at 11o'clock
