Micro POG or regular POG?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have about 300 bucks of christmas money that I am willing to spend on effects.
Should I get a POG or a micro POG? I like the POG more cos it has 3 octave settings and a detune function for each octave, but I was wondering if it handled the bass worse than the micro POG...

oh, and just for comments, should I throw in a Malekko Heavy Industry Assmaster distortion pedal into the consideration pool?

Personally I would go for the Micro, mostly because it hisses less and is generally more useful on bass. But if you really require the extra features then go for that one.

The POG can be noisy but apart from that it is far better than the Micro.

The Micro is less than half the pedal the POG is and yet only costs 1/3 less.

I personally think the POG is great on bass. And as for the hiss, the POG itself has a solution for that. There is another slider on the POG that everyone forgets about, the low pass filter. Dial that slider down a bit and the hiss largely goes away. If you look in the sound clip databass thread, you'll find some clips I did of the full POG.

I use, and love, both. The 2 octave up setting on the POG is fun but not really that usable for day to day stuff. The detuned settings are quite nice for adding a nice chorus effect but using the Micro with a subtle chorus gives you something similar.

I would say try both and see if you would practically use the extras on the full size one.

Cheers,
Alun

Micro unless you need the extra stuff the POG has. I had one it and was noisy and the Micro is dead silent.

I can't comment on the POG as I have not used it but I have the Micro and love it. To me it is very user friendly especially in a live setting. 3 controls and that's it. Also as has been posted......dead quiet.
