Mod for Ibanez PD7?

I like the sound coming from this pedal best with maxed gain. However, in some bad rooms this caused MASSIVE hiss and sometimes feedback.

Is it possible to mode it so that the hiss is significantly reduced?

You might be best off with a noise gate, such as the Boss NS-2 or the ISP Noise Decimator.

I actually own a isp decimator, its just that I find it kind of a waste space since Im only using it for the distortion pedal(my setup is dead silent otherwise). The space could be made to better use with a chorus pedal or something.

Also, while its not too abrupt, I find that the ISP decimator will 'chop' off your note once it passes the noise threshold. Thats the only problem I have against noise gates.

Or if anyone have any ideas what other pedals sound like an ibanez pd7 but without the massive noise?

Try reducing the gate. I never had that problem.

I've been wanting to get the PD-7 but heard that it doesn't turn on easily when you stomp on it. Have you had this problem? I heard also there is a mod that takes care of this, you can google it, it's somewhere on the internet.

For what it's worth, I seriously considered the PD7, but it was too noisy. I went home after spending about an hour with it at the store, and I found absolutely no trace of a mod for it through any search engine. Unless someone posts a link, I seriously doubt that a mod is out there.

I have a few others in this series, and I've never had an issue with stomping them to turn them on/off.

Hate to zombie a thread, but I was thinking the same thing and cracked mine open to take a look at the PCB. I noticed all the capacitors were those same low quality caps that Boss uses, and I went and looked inside my other Ibanez pedal (The PH-7 Phaser) because it wasn't as noisy, and noticed all the capacitors but two or three had been replaced with Panasonic hi-fi capacitors. Surely, if you can find a schematic somewhere, you just match the cap values and change them all for higher quality ones.

I'd pay someone to do this. Haven't found another pedal yet that matches the PD7's tone, but yeah it "acts" like a cheap pedal.
