Question Moog Lowpass Filter Settings

Sign in to disble this ad
My Moog MF101 Lowpass Filter arrived today. I've tried for the past hour, but I can't get any sort of classic envelope filter tone out of it! Can anyone post the settings they use? I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong...

I'm looking for a sound similar to this:

That should do it..I just got my LPF 2 days ago and this is the sweet spot for me. Resonance maybe a bit higher. I'm still figuring out the technical stuff behind the pedal though.

Got it! I changed the drive to 3 oclock and the cutoff at about 10 oclock.

Great...I've found that this thing has a sweet spot and I don't really move it from that place. I'm getting an expression pedal today so I'm curious to see what it can do for it.

The mf101 sounds best when you're playing your bass and the level LED flashes red in and out. Be careful if the level LED is just red, then you might get an overdrive type of sound along with the mf101 sounds. After some time playing with the m101 all the controls are pretty intuitive and you'll know what each knob does. The only thing that I still don't really understand is the 2-pole and 4-pole. I just leave it at 4-pole and pretend it's stuck. lol

EDIT: Another oc-2 >fuzz>mf101 w/ cutoff expression control user here.

no problem...

and just a footnote: a moog cp251 controller is a great addition to an mf101!!

khabalah have you tried the mp201? If you have..what is the big differences between mp201 and the cp251?? Besides major differences like LED screen, midi, tap tempo and expression pedal..

My problem is I don't completely understand this stuff yet. I looked at a picture of the CP251 and got scared. How is the learning curve? What exactly does it do?

I'm not too sure either but it looks like it produces LFO's. LFO is just a signal like a sine wave, square wave, sawtooth wave, ramp etc. I'm not too sure which ones the cp251 has. It also looks like you can patch certain sections of the cp251 to produce more original sounds.

This guy is feeding a wave into the cutoff on the mf101 and that's what produces the wobble around 1:00. Kinda sounds like a tremolo depending on the shape of the LFO wave. Then he starts patching stuff up on the cp251 and since I don't know what all the inputs and outputs are on the cp251 I have no clue what he's doing. I'm thinking the cp251 and the mp201 are pretty similar but both have different sounds you can produce.
