Moog Taurus 3 Bass Pedal Synth

Sign in to disble this ad
Well, it finally happened. Moog reintroduced their classic bass pedal synthesizer. Only, this latest incarnation looks like it's absolutely PACKED with great goodies.

Has anyone here had the chance to try one of these out yet? They have only hit the market very recently. I still have yet to give them a whirl myself.

Taurus III

I wonder if one of the voices is similar to Chris Squire's sampled notes (hugely deep and wall-shakingly full). I had a set of Taurus One pedals back in the early 80's. Those did not give that type of voice. In 2001, I was in a Yes tribute band and I used a Roland PK-5 foot pedal MIDI controller into a sound module that got really close to Chris' sound. So that's why I am curious about the Taurus III's sounds.

I've had these since Feb. The sounds are earth shaking! You really need a system to reproduce the lows.

I think that is the key....having a system that can put out the lows at a decent volume. When I was in the Yes tribute band, I ran 3600 watts into a pair of custom made sub cabs the size of a washing machine, each loaded with 18" McCauley 6174 drivers (over 2" of cone excursion!) When I would step on the bass pedals, the walls would shake, and anyone in the audience suffering from constipation experienced relief later that night.
