Moogerfoogers and Voodoo Labs Pedal Power?

Sign in to disble this ad
just wondering if anyone can verify that you can safely power a moog pedal off the pp2?

i've heard that you can use a white cable from imputs 5 or 6 just like the line 6's but use a white cable. Does anyone do this and how well does it work for you? Can you successfully get 2 of them to power off the pp2?

thanks

I power one off my PP2. You just need an adapter to provide the reverse polarity, and they're cheap, and run it off one of the 200ma jacks.

All outputs work with the PP2+ and the white cable. If you get the right angle adapters, you need to trim off some of the white rubber for the plug to fit far enough in the jack- easily done with a razorblade. The Murf and Delay should go in ports 5 and 6 as they have the highest draw. I'm currently powering 5 'foogers in my rig on twp PP2's- one per board, but have tested all 5 in a single PP2+ and it works fine; I don't have the Delay and I don't have the BassMurf anymore, but the BassMurf worked fine and the other 'foogers all work without noise (as quiet as 'foogers will get- at least as quiet as they ever were on wall warts; mine have been great 99% of the time on the PP2) and no headroom changes worth noting. If you do have each 'fooger on a single PP2, the Freqbox is pushing it at 100ma (assuming the Delay and Murf are on 5-6) but you may or may not notice any difference in fidelity or tracking.. if you do, there's plenty of room underneath to give the Freqbox its own wall-wart..

When switching from the PP2+ at 9v (on the lower rated ports, 1-4 and 7-8) to wall warts, I did not notice any changes in the envelope/drive, headroom, etc. When switching from 9v to 12v on the PP2+, there is a noticeable drop in gain, and is most evident with the Lowpass filters Envelope, and can be used as an effect even.. Setting it to a standard funky envelope at full power 9v, then switching it to 12v on the back, the envelope in the 'fast' setting gets super gurgly, somewhat similar to a SyleGreen filter.. sounds pretty cool.

Anyway, it works, you could power the whole lot of 'em with a single PP2+, from MF101 on up, and an MP201 and Theramin powered from the Courtesy AC Outlet!

Here are some rough voltage readings taken with a cheap multi-meter:
"Measured using a regulated 9 VDC supply.

MF101 40-50 mA
MF102 40-50 mA
MF103 70-90 mA
MF104SD 130-150 mA (long delay setting), 140-160 mA (short delay setting)
MF105 210 mA
MF105B 220 mA
MF107 100-130 mA
CP-251 40-50 mA, but it wasn't processing anything. "
