MORE Phase 90 SOUNCLIPS with Fuzz/Distortion

You can find my original Phase 90 Soundclips here:

MXR Script Phase 90 SOUNDCLIPS

but I did enough new soundclips to warrant a whole new thread. These aren't my favorite sounds but I had a request for some fuzz/phaser combination soundclips so I thought I'd post a few for reference.

First is just the Big Muff, for reference:

This clip has the Big Muff before the Phaser. Parts of the sweep are quite dark:

This clip has the Phaser before the Big Muff. I should've taken the time to adjust the speed of the phaser because this could be a cool effect if used right. It almost sounds like it's modulating between mono and stereo:

Here's some MXR Bass D.I. into the phaser with a crappily played riff. Does anyone know where it's from because I don't think I made it up?

Here's more of the same combination playing single notes instead of double stops:

And here's one more clean clip with a light phase effect for the hell of it:

Thanks Man!

I really need to get my hands of a phase and a few styles of distortion and mess around with them myself. I especially love the Phase/MXR clips.

http://media.putfile.com/Distortion-Phaser sounds like a lot a Rage Against The Machine tune.... Fistful Of Steel?

The other phasers I've used have overall been a little more murky in combination with fuzz/distortion, but the clean blend really helps so I highly recommend checking out a blend pedal with adjustable effected signal gain (like the Xotic) in combination with a phaser.

And Rage Against the Machine is probably right. There probably wasn't a phaser on the original then but I'm just trying to give some different examples of what the pedals sound like I do apologize for my sloptastic playing I listened to it and it really is appalling hahaha.

thank you very much for those samples man. I got a phase90 too, and i just got my ashdown bass drive pedal in the mail today, unfourtantly its 2 in the morning as im just returing from work so i cant demo it. At any rate, ive got some experimenting to do in terms of chain order, and youve sparked some creativity in me. I really dig how the phase sounds after distortion, but ive got a whammy and synth as well. I really like putting my synth before the whammy so i can boost it an octave, and i havnt decided if the overdrive is going before or after my whammy, what do you think?

I'd say try it both before and after the whammy, but when I used a Whammy I prefered the distortion after it. It could kind of mask the artificiality of the whammy's sound a bit, and I didn't test to see but I figured a distorted and therefore more harmonically complex signal might be more liable to cause tracking errors in the whammy.
