Morley Black Gold...Know Anything About Them?

Sign in to disble this ad
I just won a vintage Morley Black Gold Basic BWA wah this morning, and I have a key question: How's the throw on this bad boy? Is it like the 70s Morleys (the BWA is circa 1983), which will never be replicated, due to, and I'm not joking about this, concerns that the exaggerated throw will damage some of the crucial ligaments in your leg? Or, is it like the newer Morleys, which aren't really that long?

I almost picked one up a while back, but to-date, I've never actually used one. I don't know how they sound, either.

The modern chassis size and throw are based on the Black Gold series, so there's no crazy-large chassis or insane physical sweep.

I've tried one in a shop. It had the same throw as current Morleys. It also did practically nothing to the sound. The frequency sweep isn't very broad.
