Morley PDW-II Questions

Sign in to disble this ad
So my girl got me a PDW-II for XMas -- so its not like I can take it back

Anyhow, my main questions are:

1 - Geez, this thing is hot. Like I have to have the level up less than 1/4 of the way, or its just WAY too loud. Anyone know if there is a trim pot inside? The directions that came with it are pretty basic.

2 - The "distortion" doesn't really seem to be much distortion -- more like the kind of drive I can get out of my Sansamp anyhow, just wondering if this is their norm. I have other boxes I can use for distortion.

Still playing with it basically. The level issue is my main concern. I do play an active Lakland if that matters, but it seems out of the ordinary for a pedal to be so hot.

No trim pots inside on these. You can tweak the sound by adjusting the angle of the photoresistor, but it won't get any quieter. If you're complaining about the volume, then I suspect you don't really realize what you've bought.

Seriously, though... the non-bass Morley wahs generally boost your volume quite a bit. I know it seems odd to have your volume knob set that low on an effects pedal, but think about it for a second... that's what the volume knob's for.

I've never used the PDW-II, as it's discontinued... so I can't comment on the distortion. I'd imagine it's nothing too overwhelming by any means, though.

Hey man, the website says "works great for bass too!"

These are discontinued? They are still listed as current products on Morley's site, and she ordered it online not long before XMas.

Anyhow it was a present, so I'll just keep messing with it.

Oh, oops - I was thinking of all the other Pro Series models. That's the only one still being made.

But yeah, spend some time with it and record some clips! I'm curious to hear it in action.
