I picked up one of these pedals dirt cheap last week on craigslist. It is by far the coolest looking pedal of all time. It looks like it fell off of a 1950's flying saucer.
Anyway as much as I want to like this thing I just am not digging the sound. It doesn't seem give you typical sort of wah sound, it just seems to boost the **** out of the signal and distort like crazy.
In your professional opinion what can I do to make this pedal sound as awesome as it looks, or is it a lost cause?? I really really want to like this thing. |

EDIT: The way you describe the sound you get out of it, there could be something wrong with the pedal.

Yeah, not the most polite or functional sounds which is why I got the Morley PBA-1 wah instead.
Still keep my Power-Wah Boost just for grins tho. |

The problem usually lies at the other end of the flap. They were taped down. As the tape gets old and starts to lift it can effect your sweep range and overall wah experience. Have this checked out and replace tape anyways now that you have it open.
If you still dont like it after that,,,,let me know by pm.
I hope this helps

I had one years ago that I had to repair in order to get it to work right, so I've seen a few of the common problems these tanks develop with age.

First, there are about two categories of wah people. In one camp is the Dunlop style wah, which involves a more polite sound and a smaller physical motion to operate. In the other camp is the Morley, whose sound is rude and take a large physical motion to operate. You just may not find yourself in the Morley camp.
Second, these are vintage pedals. Sometimes, there is just something wrong with them.Because of the simple design and lack of using a Dunop style mechanisn, this usually isn't the case.
Check that the felt is taped and intact or not damaged. Check that the white light bulb fuctions. You can adjust the amount of light exposed to the sensor as well, which may help tame it for you as well. Lastly, make sure it isn't a Power Wah Fuzz and the fuzz isn't engaged.(no offense, but I have seen this happen before), lastly, make sure there isn't some obvious alterations made to it that may have changed the tone.
If you just don't like it, cool. We all havwe different ideal tones in our head. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
