Morley PWB Repair

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, I've attached a picture of the inside of my 1970s Morley Power Wah Boost pedal. The tape that holds the flap that allows light to reach the diode has failed. I've tried to use duct tape to hold it in place, but it just won't stay. Any ideas on what else might work, some kind of glue or adhesive maybe? I just ordered a EH Bass Big Muff and want to get this thing fixed before it arrives!

Mine is attached with gaffa tape, works fine.

I would suggest you get some decent gaffa tape - the cheap stuff is nasty and doesn't stick anywhere near as well as the good stuff does.

Also, try cleaning the surface where you put the tape with something like alcohol.

For mine I put down "Liquid Nails" glue and then put down the original tape, and duct taped over it to cover the excess glue that seeped out.

Thanks for the replies. I went to the local hardware store and they had never heard of gaffa tape so I got some Gorilla brand duct tape, it's supposed to be the strongest tape around. I might try the liquid nails option as well.

Wow. And I thought my local hardware store was crud.

Trouble is the definition of "duct tape" depends on who you talk to. Over here "duct tape" is a somewhat stretchy grey plastic tape coated with only medium-high tackiness goo. I hate that stuff with a passion, and it is only useful for taping up ducts!

Gaffa, gaffers, or "100 mile an hour" tape is a fabric mesh tape coated with strong adhesive on one side, and black or silver shiny coating on the other side. The good stuff is strong enough to wax your arm with!

It's everywhere in movie studios and any sound guy worth his salt will always have a roll handy.
