Is the Akai Deep Impact the most expensive effect. I was looking at a couple and they're close to 1K, wow.

thats 90% collectors value. they were $99 new.

i owned one probably around 2009, bought and sold both for $550. there are effects out there that arent discontinued, and cost that much.

Most PLL's go for quite a pretty penny.

those gigantic mutron biphase things pop up for absurd amounts of cash, as does the flanger. i know ive seen people post more expensive, obscure gear, but nothing in those price ranges have any degree of practicality (at least for me).

I think the Moog Taurus either tops the list or is pretty dang close.

How about everyday expensive? Not too many people own a Moog or a Akai, but a lot of people have picked up the VT Deluxe. That runs about 290 after tax, and for that you can get a pretty wide range of things; new game console, month of groceries, furniture, etc.

I find it can almost hurt more to spend 300 on something your unsure about, rather than spend 1200 on something your positive about; like a bass. But maybe thats just me.

(Used) Klon Centaur...depending on the paint (gold or silver, with or without horsey). I saw one sell for $1200 about six months ago.

I've found that a lot of pedals are overpriced due to hype. Take for example the bass whammy. You would be crazy to spend 500-1000 bucks on one of them when you could get a pitchfactor (which has been proven to be more versatile) for less used. Yet people pay the hype price for the Justin tones. Ridiculous if you ask me. Expensive doesn't always equal good imo.

I've seen some crazy prices for vintage pedals, like original Mutrons for many hundreds of dollars.

I've actually played one of those fulltone tube tape echo. I was playing a very nice guitar through a pretty expensive amp and let me tell you that I would definitely buy it if I had enough $
