Which of these is the most Mutron-ish?

I haven´t tried any of those but my Ultron came with the post last week. So far I have only tried it with a guitar in a 10 watts amp. I expecting a ampeg b200r this week and then I shall try it with bass! I tought it was very watery and liquid sound of it. So I voted for "other".

Higgie (a Mutron owner) told me that the AF-9 is the closest sounding filter to a mutron he has tried.

unfortunately, I've never had the pleasure of playing a Mutron, so my opinion only comes from sound clips of it. But I think the Q-Tron can get pretty durned close

Out of those, the only ones I haven't tried are the Moog, and Emma, so I can't really comment on them, although the Emma is meant to be quite subtle.

The EBS is good, but won't get you ALL the sounds a Mu-Tron can, but it's my second favourite out of the list.

The closest to the Mu-Tron IMO, is the maxon AF-9. It has all the same controls, and uses similar circuitry and components, plus it is small, 9v, and has a status LED. There are 3 advantages over a Mu-Tron right there, without even mentioning price!

IMO, if you're looking for the Mu-Tron sound, get a Mu-Tron. But if you can settle for something close, get the Maxon.

I have tried the Moog and the Emma, and they are each cool in their own way but they sound nothing like the Mutron IMO. I agree that the AF-9 (or better yet one of the earlier vintage productions of it by either Maxon or Ibanez) is the closest to a Mutron of what you have listed (though not exactly the same sound). I haven't tried the XO, but the original Q-Tron is my second choice, it does a decent job of copping the character of the Mutron. Oh, and for reference I have owned an original Mutron.

For a lot more money there's the Meatball and its recent clone the Meatwad.

While I also haven't tried the Chunk, the sound clips of it on their website again sound nothing like a Mutron.

I have an Ibanez AF-9. While not a Mutron, it's pretty close.

I can get similar sounds from my Meatwad and the Meatball is close. I think the Meatwad is closer though. I have tried the AF-9 and didn't like it. Mine was a newer version so maybe I should try an older version.
The guy at L Sound helped in designing the Q tron so I'd venture it's close but I have never tried one.
Out of all the filters I've tried the Mu-tron is the one that sounds most like the Mu-tron but to have one that is practical for live use you'd have to spend $500 on the pedal and then have L Sound do about $200 worth of over-hauling to it. I sold mine, not because I didn't like it, but because I could use that money for other pedals.
If I had more money for gear I would have kept the Mu-tron for sure.
