Mountainking is a very cool builder. The Megalith, AFAIK, is based on the Big Muff. Doomy wall of fuzz. Some might know him as the designer of the circuit that Devi Ever put out as her Bass Fuzz / Supermassive Black Hole. That circuit has now reverted to him and will be coming out as the Magnetar. A lot of the peeps over at ilovefuzz.com love his pedals.

I love Shrinebuilder, but for what it's worth, I can't really hear Al on most of the album. The Megalith sounds sweet though. Apparently Al also used it on God is Good by Om

I may tend to agree. His tone on Om's stuff is phenomenal! I love when he cranks in the distortion. So heavy but not messy.

I had this pedal but returned it. I couldn't get a good sound from it on bass although it did sound good on guitar. I don't think it's based on the muff circuit though.

I'm pretty sure it's original in it's engineering sonically it's replaced me using multiamp setups I will scan in the instruction sheet which really clears up operations.
Crucial pedal.

What was wrong with the sound? I'm looking forward to order one, so it's last chance to stop GAS

They take some tweaking. Watch the input knob. If you have a hot or active bass you can overload the circuit. Also It makes some solid state heads puke. Personally I think it sounds better with a tube head.

Can't wait to hear your assessment of the mighty Magnetar. It sounds killer on the vids I saw at mountainking website.

Check out the rest of Excane's videos on youtube. 2 more of it I think, at least one more for sure. I gave it a run through. First thoughts are, WOW. Of course it is heavy. It is not as gated as I thought. It allows for nice fast playing with definition of the notes. The gate allows for long sustain too. So it is a mellow gate, I was afraid it would be too choppy. I have had pedals with a lot more gating to them, it is cool for some things but this amount of gate is what I wanted. Big long notes possible, quick riffs have definition. I haven't played with the band yet of course but it is obvious that this pedal can cut through. No dedicated mid control but almost, between the 3 knobs that control the tone it is easy to dial in a mid heavy, mix cutting tone. If you want scooped it is easy to dial in as well. I have had a Heavy Machine before so I am familiar with the MountainKing way of shaping tone.

Have you tried the Frequency LSD pedal from him yet? Another one that is on my radar.
I will check out Mr. Excane's videos. Can't get youtube here at work though..
