Which MUFF?

Sign in to disble this ad
im torn between the bass muff and the russian big muff

i love the creamy sound of the russian

but i'm also stuck on the the low end boost and dry settings of the bass muff

can i get close to a similar sound with the bass muff?
is there significant low end loss with the russian

also

do you have a different dist. suggestion
my price range is around $100

and GO!

In that price range you should also check out MXR's El Grande Bass Fuzz and Electronix's Messdrive.

The EHX Big Muff Pi is not distortion, my friend. It's fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuzz.

Search the existing threads...There's quite a few discussions ongoing about fuzz, muffs, and the EHX Bass Big Muff Pi.

Most people on here would tend to lean towards the BBM over the Black Russian due to tonality and flexibility.

I have the electro harmonix bass blogger and in drive mode, I have found nothing like it. It even seems to handle slap a little bit too. kinda percussive distortion if you will...and then it can switch to fuzz too, love it more than the regular ehx NYC big muff pi and better than ehx bass metaphors. have not tried the bass big muff but I gotta say again try the bass blogger.

I voted other because after owning all of the Muff variants at one time or another, I like my Bluebeard the best. Since the Bluebeard is a bitch to get, hit Ryan at Fuzzrocious up for a Green Stache.
